In parallel with the exhibition *[En places et lieux](https://www.drac.ca/en/exhibitions/en-places-et-lieux)* at DRAC, Lucie Rocher presents a site-specific photographic installation at the Bibliothèque publique de Drummondville. *Mise en pièces* is a series of photograms made with a defective hard drive, which was dismantled and used as an object in each composition.  
  
In 2017, the artist suffered a major breakdown on her hard disk—compromising an upcoming exhibition at the Maison de la culture Jeanine-Sutto. In a gesture of incomprehension, she dismantled the drive in order to analyze how it worked—since it’s an integral part of her daily life and essential to archiving her practice. Each screw, plastic element and label inside the disc were dismantled and laid down on photosensitive paper in the darkroom to create some fifty unique compositions. The installation presented at the public library reveals nine of these large-format compositions (in positive and negative form)—which were digitized and re-photographed for the occasion. “A library is first and foremost a place for preserving and archiving knowledge, and it seemed to me that this fully echoed the subject of this series of photograms”, explains Lucie Rocher of her installation.

The Maison des arts Desjardins Drummondville and DRAC - Art actuel Drummondville are pleased to offer a special day of multidisciplinary activities during spring break. Come and enjoy a multidisciplinary incursion exclusive to the MADD, combining visual arts, performing arts and circus - plus a representation of Département des retours.  
  
Spring break is for children aged 5 to 12. The fee is $45 (taxes included) per participant, lunch not included.

The activities will be held in French. 


Activities of the day

The day begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. Participants may arrive on the site as early as 8:15 a.m. No childcare service is provided outside these hours.  
  
Participants will need to bring their lunch (preferably cold) as well as two snacks.  
  
A few days before, participants will receive by e-mail a short survey to fill out with basic information for each child registered (name and age of participants, emergency contact, allergies or intolerance, special needs, etc.).

Registration required (available on April 2025).

DRAC presents a series of intimate discussions with the centre’s artists, curators, and collaborators. Lasting one hour, these discussions are intended for art lovers of all ages.  
  
Access to the discussions is free but registration is required for some.

Discussion Sarah Chouinard-Poirier

Who is this other whose consciousness has been separated from his body, whose blood and teeth we fear? [Sarah Chouinard-Poirier](https://www.sarahchouinardpoirier.com/) presents a new performance inspired by the imaginary of the zombie, where popular culture and situated knowledge meet. The artist interrogates the fear of the other, drawing on their community and activist work with people who use drugs.  
  
Through humour, research and embodiment, Chouinard-Poirier attempts to bring into friction the biopolitical theories of the undead and social hygiene justifying the regulation of substances and bodies. The artist thus invites us to observe the separation between the *human* and the *less-than-human*.  
  
This performance is presented in collaboration with the Centre d'art et de diffusion CLARK.

As author and psychoanalyst Daniel Sibony writes, an artwork is an “object-time” in that it solidifies and contains time, refers to existing moments and produces new ones, i.e., “more-time.” This proposition applies particularly well to the work of [Louis-Charles Dionne](https://www.louischarlesdionne.com/), who intensifies the idea by “solidifying” everyday objects.  
  
Time cards, government forms, folders, playing cards, a snowbank: the physical manifestation of these objects is reworked in stone or bronze, materials that evoke the history of sculpture and memorials. Symbolizing long periods of time, these materials also embody aspects opposed by modernism. Amorphous and “ignoble” (as relative to “noble”) materials have become emblematic of twentieth century works.  
  
The reversal of perspective that Dionne proposes in the exhibition is not a return to the old order. Using everyday objects, he offers a reading of contemporary life based on time and the bureaucratization of artistic practice. The icons accumulating on a computer screen of folders full of grant applications and calls for work are solidified in marble and composite stone. The snowbank, a symbol of transience, finds its longevity in bronze. Marble and bronze come into a contemporary art centre to assert the endurance of the impermanent.

Since 2007, DRAC has annually exhibited the work of Cégep de Drummondville’s visual arts graduates. Presenting works made in a wide variety of mediums, the group exhibition assembles unique art practices that reflect the concerns of artists who are in the early stages of their professional careers.  
  
This exhibition is an opportunity to showcase the work of the region’s emerging visual artists and to offer a first exhibition experience in an institutional context.

*du seuil à la cime* is representative of [Jacynthe Carrier](https://jacynthecarrier.com/en)’s research, which merges the living and the image in performative scenes that perceive the collective body as a means of connecting to and reflecting on our different ways of relating to others and to the environment. This multidisciplinary video, sound, and photography installation poetically observes the seasonal transformations of a specific site, a small vacant hill near a highway. In the course of frequent visits from spring to winter, the site is gradually revealed as the day breaks at dawn. During the time Carrier spends with others on the mound, she activates various collective performances that survey, highlight, and physically enter into dialogue with the elements forming the rich ecosystem of this abundant site, presiding between the concrete and the cars.  
  
Taking an attentive approach, this enveloping and sensorial installation focuses on the gestures of waking up and the various presences of those who inhabit and visit the hill and its surroundings. The resulting work is situated in the tension between the site’s actual hostility and other possible stories about a small terrain that is both abandoned and sovereign.
